STLDA GOALKEEPING PROGRAM

The Goalkeeping Program focuses on fostering confidence and composure in goalkeepers by developing their ability to read the game, make decisive saves, and command their area effectively. Designed for goalkeepers aged 8–12, the program emphasizes technical shot-stopping, decision-making in 1v1 situations, and building a fearless and proactive mindset.

Key Components of the Program:

  • Shot-Stopping Mastery: Goalkeepers will engage in technical drills to enhance reaction time, positioning, and save techniques. Sessions will focus on handling, diving mechanics, and footwork to cover a range of shot-stopping scenarios.

  • Commanding the Box: Training will emphasize dominance in the box with exercises on high-ball handling, punching techniques, and decision-making in aerial situations. Goalkeepers will learn how to read the flight of the ball and effectively manage crosses.

  • 1v1 Situations: Sessions will include isolated and game-like drills to prepare goalkeepers for high-pressure 1v1 scenarios. Training will focus on staying big, reading attackers, and timing challenges to win key duels.

  • Decision-Making Under Pressure: Through realistic game scenarios, goalkeepers will develop the ability to assess risk, communicate effectively, and make quick decisions on when to stay, come off their line, or distribute the ball.

By combining technical skill development with game-relevant applications, the program equips goalkeepers with the confidence, composure, and tools needed to excel in all aspects of the position. The ultimate goal is to empower goalkeepers to take initiative, command their area, and become decisive leaders on the field.

This program is ideal for goalkeepers aiming to elevate their technical abilities, tactical understanding, and mental sharpness while building a solid foundation in the fundamentals of the position.
